Happy Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve. I had grand plans to have 2 crafty post up for you, today and yesterday...nope. Along came a freezing rain storm. A storm that coated everything with ice. Thick ice. Heavy ice. Look how the ice has frozen every frond of the cedar.

The problem with all this beautiful ice is that it put too much weight on our city's tree branches. The branches fell. The branches took out power lines. Neighbourhood after neighbourhood fell into darkness.

We were very lucky, we didn't lose power. So, the power outage led to our home becoming the place for family to come for warmth and electricity. One of the many great things about living within a few kilometres of my sister, my brother and my brother-in-law (and all their families) is that we can always help each other out in emergencies. My sister brought a turkey and all the fixings for dinner and we provided the oven. Sadly, my sister was supposed to host our family from out of town for our Christmas dinner. Due to the ice storm, we were able to enjoy a delicious feast, that no one will ever forget. The year of the ice storm. The year our city went dark. The year we all came together at our house and enjoyed each other's company.

As for the craft posts...they aren't going to happen. I've been too busy to get bloggy. I'm sure you understand. Sometimes you have to put down the computer and take care of your loved ones.
