Isn't it funny how much we chatter on and on about the weather? Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry. It is a very popular topic of conversation. This past week Toronto has been experiencing our first heat wave of the summer season...and summer only started like yesterday! It is going to be a hot summer. Extreme weather doesn't mean that you have to contain your play inside the house. Nope. Extreme weather means that you have to plan and be flexible. This week my daughter and I spent some time outside early in the morning. While I played in the garden she played with a few bowls of water.

This is one of my favourtie things to do in the summer. So simple and so creative. Those bowls of water became many things on one morning this week.

bowls of soup and potions
paint for the fence
paint for our bodies
Let's take a look at how some of you were playing outside at the last Outdoor Play Party...
Making Boys Men harnessed the sunshine to cook with their solar oven, they also cooled down with some cool ice cube play
Create with Your Hands harvested some herbs from the garden and made a lovely batch of herb play dough
I love the exploring and learning the kids over at Tumbleweed Infant House got up to - learning all about slugs

Ha - as you are experiencing a heat wave we are having colder temps than we did in December & it's so wet! Of course I am not supposed to complain about the weather! Love the simplicity of this idea with the water.

I think that water must be the most versatile 'toy' out there for kids!
