Have you ever been in transition? Whether it's changing a job, changing your relationship status or moving where you live. This can be an exciting time, anticipating the future. It can also be a trying and scary time. My friend Michelle finds herself in this position right now.
Michelle has moved back to Toronto after living in Vancouver, for a number of years. So, her kitchen, and her life are a little bit in transition at the moment. Even though she has only recently arrived here in Toronto she has already jumped right into the handmade arts scene. Last weekend she was at the Gladstone participating in a spring craft show. Michelle is a graphic artist, an illustrator and the genius behind Thunderpeep Designs. (check out Thunderpeep's etsy site) As you will discover, Michelle is a firm believer in taking the time to handwrite a letter and sending it in the mail...the actual mail!

Thunderpeep Designs showcases Michelle's prints, notecards and calendar designs, that are clean, simple and funny. I have totally fallen in love with her note cards...check out the Goonies collection! Her love of Scandinavian design and her Canadian-ness (is that a word?) are evident in each piece of her work. Have a peek into Michelle's kitchen and read about where she finds inspiration...and there's even a sweet deal for you (details below).
Tell me 3 things about yourself
1. I have become addicted to the Wii game Dance Party. It's better cardio than any gym equipment!!
2. I still hand write letters to my friend, no matter where they live
3. I would love to someday live on the other side of the arctic circle
Name 5 things that are on your kitchen counter right now
- a large pot of coffee
- a line of yummy flavoured oils & vinegars
- compost pot
- a now dead blender
- a butter crock (which I have discovered just recently and think is genius)
Name 1 thing you are looking for in your prospective kitchen counter?
Lots of counter space. My Vancouver apartment had the tiniest of kitchen which made anything more than the basics a real challenge.
What's your favourite thing to do on your kitchen counter?
Bake cookies...and Swedish cinnamon buns
Where do you find your inspiration?
Do you have a studio? Or do you work from home?
I work from home. I like having my area close by for whenever inspiration hits, and also to give me a gentle reminder if I haven't done anything in awhile.
Thunderpeeps...what's up with that?!
That's a name I acquired when I was playing hockey!
So here's the good news for all of you out there! Michelle has graciously offered my readers a special 15% discount on her work. Simply enter the code "kitchen" during checkout on the Thunderpeep Designs etsy site to receive the 15% discount! Sounds to me like it's time to get writing. Don't forget to drop back into Thunderpeep Designs in late June, when she launches her new midsummer artwork collection. Thanks Michelle!
Have a great Mother's Day weekend everyone!
