Perhaps you know a mom like this...she always shows up at the schoolyard looking...good. How is that possible? This week I would like to introduce you to Claudia, a woman who is forging her way in a competitive industry, while raising 3 healthy and happy kids and 1 super-cute dog. Maybe we'll get some insight into how she does it "all" by peeking into her kitchen.
Question: Tell me 3 things about yourself.
Answer:
- forever true to my heart western Canadian girl, now living in Toronto for the past 3.5 years who would move back in a heartbeat!
- Mother of 3 wonderful, yet sometimes high-maintenance children who dictate the unpredictability of my life I call "everyday"
- currently full-time stay-at-home mom...former Environmental Technologist nerd of 12 years, turned part-time Stella and Dot Independent Stylist (crazy jewelry line for those of you who don't know) who will soon take over the Ontario region and make mega bucks!!!
Q: Are you for, or against, small appliances on your kitchen counter?
A: "For" small appliances on my kitchen counter ONLY because I have NO space in my cabinets to store them, otherwise they would totally be put away!!!
Q: Name 5 things that are on your kitchen counter right now.
A:
- most importantly, only because it makes me look domestic...my Kitchen Aid Mix Master in black!!!
- can't live without...Cuisinart coffee maker, set for 4:30am brew (my husband is one of those strange "early bird" kind of people)
- recently sharpened Henckel knives, first time since my wedding 10 years ago, thanks to my girlfriend's dad, George!
- Bread storage thingee
- Cuisinart indoor grill/panini maker...looks cool, could be put to use more
Q: What, if anything, would you change about your counter?
A: Definitely change it from the fake plastic stuff (mommy brain has made me forget the name of the material (melamine?)) to custom concrete countertops!!! But then my cabinets wouldn't match, so I am holding out for a kitchen reno!!!
Q: What is your favourite thing to do on your kitchen counter?
A: Haha...wouldn't you like to know!?!
Actually, I would love to bake more if I had more time. But for now, I'd say WEEKEND mornings when I get to drink my coffee and chat with the kids, who are sitting around the kitchen island.
Love the honest answers from Claudia! I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one suffering from mommy brain these days. And while Claudia claims that her Independent Stylist position with Stella and Dot is "part-time" - the hours she spends devoted to this amazing accessory business must add up to a full time position. Claudia has followed her passion and landed in a career that allows her flexibility and access to some seriously stylish bling! If only we could all find this kind of balance in our lives.
PS - Be sure to check out Claudia's Boutique to peruse Stella and Dot's spring jewelry collection and find information about becoming a Stylist.
