Facebook has kinda changed my life. I have rediscovered friends that I haven't seen in a million years. Danielle is one of those women. We were in elementary school and high school together and then...gone. I think this happens to most people. Facebook has allowed me to reconnect! You will see from Danielle's story that she has been a hard woman to pin down, as she travels from country to country. Currently, Danielle is living with her family in the UK...check out how life works across the pond.
This one is going to bring a smile to your face...guaranteed!
Question 1: Tell me 3 things about yourself
Answer 1:
- I am a Canadian expat, currently living in the UK. I lived in Dubai for 5 years as well, and we're thinking about Australia next...I have restless feet! I have travelled to more countries than I am old...just!
- I have a gorgeous son named Zachary who is 21 months and talks a mile a minute...about what, I'm not sure most of the time, but either way it's hilarious!
- I am currently a part-time stay-at-home-mum, student, business owner, and freelance writer. It changes from day to day!
Q2: Are you for, or against, small appliances being kept on the kitchen counter?
A: For! I would love to say against, but I would never use my appliances if I kept them tucked away. If my pressure cooker or juicer or bread maker weren't staring me in the face, my family probably wouldn't get any fresh homemade food!
Q3: Name 5 things that are on your kitchen counter right now.
A:
- Most importantly, the "to-do" pile - it's a method of communication for us. If I need to mail a letter or research something, I put it in the pile as a reminder, as does my husband. We've got a system going
- the aforementioned small appliances
- my laptop, for finding yummy inspiring vegan recipes online to use up whatever's going spare in the fridge. I rarely make the same thing twice, as many of my "experiments" should not be repeated!
- a bowl of fruit
- satellite radio
Q4: Name 1 thing that you would like to change about your kitchen counter?
A: I would change my whole house if we could. We've outgrown it. The kitchen in particular is badly laid out, long and roomy, but has no practical space. If we stay here, I'd love a granite work surface.
Q5: What is your favourite thing to do on your kitchen counter?
A: Fold laundry. UK houses are relatively small, and usually the washer/dryer (ours is all in one) is in the kitchen. My son loves helping put things in and take things out of the washing machine, so it's something we can do together.
What a wonderful way to do the laundry...love it! This past weekend I asked my youngest daughter to go upstairs and sort the laundry for me. When I went upstairs she had 4 piles of laundry all sorted and ready to go! I think starting them early is the only way to go! And, great to see that no matter where you live...kitchens are never BIG enough!
