Home movie nights have really changed from when I was a kid.
I remember the day my parents bought our very first VCR. The store where they bought it from sent them home with a "You Bought a VCR" button to wear. Crazy!
To get ready for a family home movie night in my childhood home, our entire family would pile into the car and drive to the trailer/video store. Seriously...it was a trailer in the parking lot of a motel. That was the only place where people in our town could find movies to rent. It was totally epic awesome when a video store went into our local plaza.
Family movie night snacks would have been a big bag of chips and a 2 litre bottle of some sort of pop. Nothing fancy, but man did we look forward to those snacks.
Fast forward 30 years and movie nights at our home are awesomeness. We have a near-endless supply of programs and movies to choose from on Netflix. No more car trips to the video store. Instead we flip our way through all the titles until we land on one that everyone can agree on. As for the snacks? Well, I've found a fun way to kick those up a notch too. It only takes a few minutes to transform an old cardboard box into a super cool movie theatre snack tray. Seriously, who wouldn't want to sit on the couch with their own individual serving to movie snacks?
DIY Movie Theatre Snack Tray
cardboard box (cereal box, cracker box)
3 cups (one for popcorn, one for candies and one for a drink)
marker
utility knife
taps
popcorn
candies
water (or juice, or whatever you like to drink)
Now, with our snacks selected and securely placed on our laps, it's time to decide what are we going to watch?!
What are you binge watching? Our family is looking forward to a whole bunch of shows that are coming to Netflix in 2018.
We love a good comedy. The new David Letterman series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is funny and thoughtful.
The kids are happily awaiting the new Llama Llama Red Pajamas animated series. How will the classic books from author come to life? And, the Trolls: The Beat Goes On is definitely going to be on heavy rotation this year.
What will you be watching in 2018?
