Simple, Festive Christmas Ornament Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup room temperature butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs yolks room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • First, make the cookie dough. Beat the beat butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Beat in an electric mixer or in a large bowl.
  • Next, add the egg yolks, one at a time, scraping the bowl after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  • Turn the mixer to low and add the four. Mix it up until the dough forms combined.
  • After making the dough, I then divided it in half and coloured each half pink and green. (I love the combination of pink and green at Christmas). Wrap each half of the dough, tightly, in plastic wrap and place the dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  • Remove the dough from the fridge and divide each half into thirds. Roll out 2 of the thirds of the green dough and create a snake of dough with the third piece.
  • Place the green snake of dough on top of the pink dough that has been rolled.
  • Wrap the pink dough all the way around the green snake. Repeat with the green dough.
  • Wrap the entire roll in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for at least 1 hour.
  • Remove from the freezer and slice into ¼-inch disks, using a sharp knife.
  • Bake at 350F, on a parchment paper, lined baking sheet, for 8-10 minutes. Until the cookies are slightly golden.
